Jon Davis will launch Thelonious Sphere, a chapbook inspired by the music of jazz composer Thelonious Sphere Monk. He'll also be reading poems and short stories from his new manuscript, Improbable Creatures.

Some of the stories in "Improbable Places" have appeared in recent issues of McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Versal (Amsterdam), Crazyhorse, Flash, Black Warrior Review, and Verse.

Jon Davis has been a member of the Creative Writing faculty at IAIA since 1990. He is a noted poet who has published six collections of poetry. In 2012, the City of Santa Fe selected him as the city’s fourth Poet Laureate. Three of Mr. Davis’ full-length publications of poetry are Preliminary Report, Scrimmage of Appetite, for which he was honored with a Lannan Literary Award in Poetry, and Dangerous Amusements.
